Dr. Md. Abdur Razzak Choudhury was born on 26 October 1974 in a Muslim family of Gaibandha district, Bangladesh. He is the first son of Late Md. Amir Ali Choudhury and Mst. Rawshan Ara Begum. He passed Secondary School Certificate examination from Gaibandha Government Boys High School, Gaibandha and Higher Secondary School Certificate examination from Carmichael College, Rangpur, in 1990 and 1992, respectively under Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board Rajshahi, obtaining First Division in both the examinations. He obtained B. Sc. Ag. (Hons.) degree from Sher-E-Bangla Agricultural University, [the former Bangladesh Agricultural Institute (BAI), Dhaka] in 1996 and Master degree in Entomology from Bangladesh Agricultural University (BAU), Mymensingh, in 2002 and secured first class both in B. Sc. Ag. (Hons.) and MS in Entomology. He received PhD in Entomology from Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Agricultural University (BSMRAU), Gazipur, in 2016. Dr. Choudhury started his professional career as a Research Associate (Entomologist) in the Division of Entomology; Bangladesh Rice Research Institute (BRRI) on August 10, 2002 in the project of Poverty Elimination Through Rice Research Assistance (PETRRA). He served in the different agro based private organization holding the post of Executive and Senior Executive during June, 2004 to July 2010. He has started his teaching profession as an Assistant Professor on 24 August, 2010 and at present; he is working as an Associate Professor and Chairman of the Department of Entomology, Faculty of Agriculture, Sylhet Agricultural University, Sylhet, Bangladesh. Dr. Choudhury has authored or co-authored more than 15 of peer-reviewed scientific articles published in national and international journals. He is happily married to Mst. Habiba Sultana and blessed with one daughter Rokaiya Tahseen and two sons Rifah Haseeb and Zayed Tawseef.
