Agricultural Statistics is one of the important disciplines in Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University. The Department of Agricultural Statistics successfully imparting teaching to the students of the undergraduate and postgraduate level in the Faculty of Agriculture as well as the Faculty of Agribusiness Management. This department is also engaged in pursuing research on the different areas like biostatistics, socio-economics, economic and food policy issues, experimental designs, gender issues, agribusiness and agricultural product marketing supported by all sorts of field investigation for postgraduate research. At present there are 5 teachers involved in teaching and research with all logistical facilities such as computers as well as computer operators and supporting staffs in this department. In near future, the department will offer M.S degree. A Computer Unit was established under this department in 2001. It is equipped with more than 20 computers of various models. Teachers and students of both faculties have been using these computer facilities for their own research and studies. |

A research project has been completed in September 2008 entitled “Spectre Problems of Food Distribution Systems and Impact on Household Food Security Status in Two Southern Islands in Bangladesh” by the Principal Investigator ‘Associate Professor Mr. Noor Md. Rahmatullah’ funded by the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the United Nations. |
